Recently, a rescue team carried out a successful giant whale rescue campaign on the Balearic Islands, Spain. A huge 12-meter humpback whale was trapped in an illegal drift net. Fortunately, marine environmentalists were able to intervene in time and successfully rescue this giant animal.

Volunteers from the Mediterranea Sea Rescue Organization received a report from a yacht group about the trapped whale. They quickly approached the scene to assess the situation and initiate the rescue. Initially, they were worried that the animal may have died, but luckily it was still alive.

After removing the netting wrapped around the whale’s body and fins, rescuers observed it swimming reluctantly. They worried that puncture wounds from the net could become seriously infected. However, after a few hours of observation, they noticed the whale was healthier and began swimming faster.
