A king cobra stretching 17-feet long makes a python its dinner, chomping down on the smaller snake as it desperately tries to break free at a holiday resort in Thailand.

The two serpents were spotted by Krabi residents under a palm tree yesterday, where they immediately called the emergency services to remove the predator from the premises.

Three hours went by before the five person rescue team could do anything, forced to watch the black coloured cobra sink its deadly fangs into the python.

The python, only 5-feet long, desperately tried to evade the attack by wrapping itself around the cobra’s head.

But as the python’s grip released the cobra slithered away without eating its victim, found later in a nearby pound.

Chief rescuer Khun Napawan said: ‘The python died and the cobra could not eat it because so many people were watching.’

Emergency services were called to the scene to remove the predator, which was later found in a nearby pond, from the premises

He added: ‘It [the cobra] crept into the pond next to the palm garden about 30 metres away and the villagers rushed to find the snake where it was found in the water.’

The king cobra was eventually caught and put in a cage to be released back into the forest.
